On September 12, Starbucks officially announced the launch of a Web3 experience event for “Starbucks Rewards” (Star Rewards Club) members – “Starbucks Odyssey” (Starbucks Odyssey). “Starbucks Odyssey” will provide Starbucks Partners (employees) and Starbucks Rewards members in the United States the opportunity to earn and purchase digital collectible assets, offering benefits and an “immersive” coffee experience.
Starbucks is one of the first companies to integrate NFTs at scale with an industry-leading loyalty program, while creating a digital community that provides new experiences for members and partners to interact. Beginning on September 12, customers and partners can join a waitlist for a chance to be among the first to receive the Starbucks Odyssey experience, which will officially launch later this year.
Overview of the Starbucks Odyssey
“Starbucks Odyssey” will be an extension of the Starbucks Rewards program, which members will be able to access using their Starbucks Rewards login credentials. Once logged in, members will be able to participate in the Starbucks Odyssey “Journey” series of activities, such as playing interactive games or receiving some fun Challenges to deepen your knowledge of coffee and Starbucks, which are rewarded with Journey Stamps (NFTs) upon completion.
Members can also purchase Limited Edition Stamps (NFTs) through the built-in marketplace in the Starbucks Odyssey web app experience, allowing all members to purchase limited edition stamps directly with a credit card, without the need for a crypto wallet or cryptocurrency — which also allows Starbucks The Odyssey experience has a more fun and simpler way for members to use this new technology and take ownership of Starbucks loyalty.
Each “Limited Edition Stamp” NFT will contain a rarity point value, these stamps can be bought and sold among Starbucks Rewards members, and NFT ownership is secured on the blockchain. Membership points will increase as more stamps are collected, leading to access to unique benefits and experiences like never before, including: virtual espresso martini making classes, access to unique merchandise and artist collaborations, invitations to Starbucks Reserve Roasteries exclusives events, and even a chance to visit Starbucks’ Starbucks Hacienda Alsacia coffee farm in Costa Rica.
All “Limited Edition Stamp” NFTs will feature iconic Starbucks artwork created in collaboration with Starbucks partners, as well as external artists – the first officially licensed asset to Starbucks Rewards members and partners. Additionally, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of “Limited Edition Stamps” NFTs will be donated to causes that are vital to Starbucks partners and Starbucks Rewards members.
Starting September 12, customers can sign up for the waitlist on the official Starbucks website. Later this year, Starbucks will send invitations to selected waitlist members who will be among the first to explore the experience. As Starbucks Odyssey grows, the company will continue to gather feedback from members and Starbucks partners that will help shape the future of this innovative, new experience for Starbucks Rewards.
